The craft distillery and nonprofit organization team up to grow farm-to-glass cocktails, while supporting Hoosiers in need
INDIANAPOLIS (August 15, 2018) – Hotel Tango Artisan Distillery, the nation’s first service-disabled combat veteran-owned artisan distillery and Indianapolis’s first artisan distillery since Prohibition, recently kicked off harvesting projects at its new farm property, Hotel Tango Farms. For this farming venture, Hotel Tango Farms is partnering with Indy Urban Acres, a project
of the Indianapolis Parks Foundation.
Hotel Tango Farms, a sustainability outgrowth of the Distillery, will grow produce for usage in craft cocktails served at its tasting room. Indy Urban Acres will grow flowers at the farm to sell at retail, in order to support its mission of empowering and educating people through access to free, locally-grown, high quality products. The farm property is also the location of the Hotel Tango Farmhouse Airbnb, an overnight stay experience. Hotel Tango Farms, identified by the green “Hotel Tango” barn, is visible from I-65 Southbound near Rural St.
“A big part of what we stand for at Hotel Tango is service to our community and the creation of artisan spirits for all,” said Travis Barnes, CEO of Hotel Tango. “That commitment and passion is why this collaboration with Indy Urban Acres was such a natural fit.”
“Indy Urban Acres is thrilled to partner with Hotel Tango and discover new ways we can serve those experiencing hunger in Marion County.” said Tyler Gough, Farm Manager at Indy Urban Acres. “The picturesque Hotel Tango Farms marks Indy Urban Acres’ fourth farm site in Indy and shows the power of collaboration between a nonprofit organization and for-profit company to help those in need.”
Hotel Tango currently produces eight spirits, including Bravo Bourbon, Whiskey, Golf Gin, Romeo Rum, Mike Moonshine, Victor Vodka, Lima Charlie Limoncello, and Oscar Charlie Orangecello and distributes to retailers in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Texas. Hotel Tango’s tasting room, where a majority of the Hotel Tango Farms produce will be used, exclusively serves these spirits.
Most recently, Hotel Tango just closed a $2 million fund raise and won five international spirits awards for its Bravo Bourbon and Whiskey. Bravo Bourbon earned Gold in the 2018 Los Angeles International Spirits Competition and Silver in the prestigious 2018 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Whiskey earned Gold in the 2018 Los Angeles International Spirits Competition, Gold in the same competition’s Best of Category, and Bronze in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
